WBI consist of several well-equipped laboratories that are designed for a wide range of chemical, physiochemical, and biological work on wetlands. New equipment includes inductively coupled plasma spectrometer, autoanalyzer, CHN elemental analyzer, SERCON mass spec, and gas chromatography. Existing equipment includes a variety of sediment dating counters for 210Pb and 137Cs, organic carbon analyzer, refrigerated centrifuge, variety of spectrometers and chromatography capabilities, and redox systems. The institute also has greenhouse facilities, a gas exchange system which includes a plant growth chamber, ADC infrared gas analyzer, pressure chambers, and steady state porometers for plant response studies. Additional facilities available to the institute are an excellent library that can provide copies of over 700 publications by request. Modern computer facilities have also been updated at WBI including work stations, printers and plotters. |
